About Your Portrait Consultant

Eileen Johnson Eileen Johnson has loved all kinds of art since first discovering the delights of glitter, glue, and shiny paper as a small child.

Over time, she has explored many artistic forms including pottery, oil painting, calligraphy, digital design and dance. 		  Lisa Strong Lisa Strong manages the details of the business, is the studio technical engineer, and has a magic touch with babies. She never would have finished that pesky Ph.D. in chemical engineering (University of Minnesota) without Eileen's support and friendship.

PPA logoHer formal training includes art and design studies at the University of Wisconsin, and professional lighting techniques at Hennepin Technical College. Eileen is a member of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA) and its local affiliates, the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists (ASFA), Women Photographers and Visual Artists (WPVA), and the Minnesota Council for Quality.

 

  

Her engineering studies and research experience provided skills in creative thinking, financial management, and probably most of all, perseverance.

Lisa worked 4 years as a veterinary technician and loves working with your pets during their portrait sessions.

History

Spirit Grove Art Photography was created in 2003 by Eileen to share her fairytale fantasy digital art and photography. As friends began to request portraits and artwork of themselves, Spirit Grove added a photography studio in 2005.  

In 2006, we became a partnership as Lisa joined the business. With Lisa handling the details of running the business, Eileen now concentrates on providing quality portraiture, artistic effects, and creative design, resulting in our unique approach to portraiture.

Our Approach

We work with you to create images that reflect your vision of the special moments and important relationships in your life. Eileen uses a variety of photographic styles and digital effects. The photos can feel casual, light and airy, dramatic, or traditional. Our specialty lines include our SweetHearts portraits, newborn photography, and families.
